I have a Kenwood Chef that I have owned for nearly 50 years. I don't use it very often. It comes in handy when I have surplus veggies for the freezer.
A friend a few days ago said he loved rich fruit cake particularly wedding/christmas type cake.
When we were clearing my kitchen and conservatory for the new kitchen my son wanted to consign this machine to the skip.
Although it's not used often, it is really handy for heavy duty work and it does still work. Whilst clearing said space I dropped my large mixing bowl that was about the same age. I'm horrified that it's replacement is something upwards of £40.
A new version of the machine is between £300 and £400. I can't justify that for the number of times I would use it. the original is currently sitting on my draining board having been thoroughly scrubbed awaiting use tomorrow.
