  • Oh yuk!

Fasting blood test this morning - I almost forgot last night and started making hot chocolate!

I hate blood tests, I am a total wimp

But then it's back home for bacon sarnie

I've got a purple finger from walloping it with a hammer yesterday. I jokingly said to Mark I felt a bit faint when, in the bath, I was seeing how much it hurt and it clicked - loudly. 30 seconds later - as I was strapping it up for the night, I really did nearly fall over as the room started spinning. So now, after my meeting, I have to go to get it seen to.

    Bummocks.

Ouch!!! Hope all is well with the purple one!

I sometimes have this odd irrational feeling that when she takes the needle out the blood will shoot up in spurts - Snowdrop thinks I'm nuts

Our surgery is offering people pretty much a full MOT, which sees you first having a visit to the Nurse where she takes blood and asks many questions and fills in stuff on a screen - then you go in to see the Doc a couple weeks later to discuss their findings. My initial findings showed a raised cholesterol (7.9) but once again I was told that my good cholesterol is high too so they are not overly concerned.

The fasting test this morning is to check on all the other bits (liver, kidney, thyroid, iron etc) to see if there is any other reason for my high HDL. And this wasn't just any old fasting - oh no - this one required me to consume zero alcohol for 48hrs!

I thought the NHS were strapped for cash, these tests can't be cheap - but their thinking (so I'm told) is that if they can spot something early on that 'we' can change through our diet/lifestyle then they will save cash in the long run.

I'm back - the robbing witch stole three bottles of my finest claret!!

Snowdrop headed me off at the gate on my way back and took me to the Mess for bacon butties with some of the lads - they all admired my bandage.

I hope you haven't done what I did - tendon break. What shape is it and which joint went?

I got over my needle phobia when I became pregnant as they stab you regularly at that point. I don't bother now.
Well done - all over PIB - have that glass of vino.

The little finger, the end bit. It's all the right shape - just a bit black under the nail. But on the other side [the pad] it's purple and swollen and doesn't look good.

I've just been in a meeting so am off in a bit to get it looked at. Doesn't hurt - which is the worrying bit.

Have that vino now, followed by the hot chocolate that you missed out on last night, and then as much food as you can possibly consume. Fasting bloods are HORRIBLE
