  • Oh my crash bang wallop

It was with some disquiet that I walked into the kitchen this morning at 4am (working in London) to hear the pc starting up and closing down repeatedly.

A reboot didnt work so I have just spent 4 hours this evening undertaking a complete factory cd format and restore and thankfully now have broadband back on. Considering my IT skills are about as good as Seahorse is lying about her age, Iam amazed it works.

Even more thankfully my back up hard drive did what it was supposed toso now I just have to reinstall all the knobs and whistles and get my old "look" back.

What a pain in the Arsenals

i formatted sons pc the other week only to get the horror of horror messages, sorry you cannot register that number you have 30 days eeekkkkkk found out though that when you ring up, you get an automated service that gives you a brand new number (the old one has only been on his pc) bliss. tis a nightmare when you have to do it though innit

though i wish i could get rid of vista to go back to xp.

I wondered why it was quiet round ere tonight- I assumed you were still taking the last punishment Seahorse was dishing out.

Vista is pants. I use it when on other people's PCs. Bleugh.

Jings Piglet. I would have no idea where to start but would be frantic if my lappy wasn't working. Thankfully my SIL is a computer genius and would soon have everything sorted for me. So glad for you that you got everything sorted out - but bit of a bummer. I'm sure you don't need all that stuff - or getting up at 4am to go to London. In this climate I'm so happy to be retired - even if there is no interest on my money. I'm not complaining, managing fine.

Nah, she's wimped out Zazen. As for Vista, it should be fed to shreding machines as it really is pants.

i've given up trying to get rid of mine, it's just such a faff, even though my lappy would probably run about 50 times faster with xp

Well done you for taking backups. People have a tendancy to think PCs are immortal. Hopefully people will read this thread and start worrying about all their digital photos & stuff and do something about it.

PW, if you don't stop this sort of behaviour, I shall have to give you a proper seeing to.

If I'm not too old to manage it of course
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

                              I'll give you a leg-up, Seahorse me-dear!

Technology, though. Who'd have it? (Well, we all would of course, but it's seriously aggravating when it throws a wobbler innit?)
