  • Novel about showing veg?

If anyone has a Kindle then this is a hugely entertaining read, and will interest anyone into growing for show as well as anyone just after a good story. I was laughing out loud all the way through it. It's set around a village show and follows the exploits of two of the contestants with some fine supporting cast. Some of the language is a bit industrial but it seems to add to the entertainment somehow.

    Hello James and welcome.
Don't suppose you're related to the author?
The language in the book is totally unsuitable for a family forum.
I've moved your thread to General Chitchat where, I'm sure other Forum members can suggest other good reads if you want to read gardening novels.

I was rather annoyed at this guy who appeared to have hijacked contact details from the NVS members forum and sent emails publicising the book. I treated it as I treat other spam which of course is what uninvited emails are.

Glad you mentioned that ... I didn't spot "Post Count = 1" and stupidly toddled off to Amazon for a look. Only lack of reviews stopped me, as I had it in my mind that it was "Recommended by folk on The Vine" ... but then I cautioned myself "How come The Vine thinks its THAT good and NO reviews?"

... and by the time I was back indoors here again VC had posted what I ought to have worked out for myself

Although I've been enjoying James Nesbitt in The Missing I dunno if he can write a good, Adult, book about competitive vegetable growing

Blinking spammers .... I'll modify the script of Rowan Atkinson playing "The devil Toby welcomes you to hell"

"I'd like all Murders, Looters, Pillagers, Thieves and Spammers over here please ..."

For those of you who have not seen it, or not seen it recently, here's the sketch:

Far more entertaining than that newly published book you recommend

This must be a wonderful book as its being recommended on other gardening forums too by James Nesbitt under his other name of Lincolnbloke.
You must be on commission James

But first ... there must be a headline in there?

"Chicken composts carrot good growing guide" ??

You can tell I'm not very good at these!

Well spotted VC . Like Kristen I didn't notice post count and thought it odd as I looked inside the book on amazon and thought after the first paragraph it seemed a bit pants.
Mind you I am glad it was posted I did enjoy welcome to hell

Given there isn't much gardening to do these long winter evenings ... we could, instead, all write a "Not read it but found it annoying that Author, or their friend, spammed my forum about this book" review on Amazon ...

If it was realised at the outset what was up, the thread would have been deleted.
