Sorry to hear you're not feeling well .
It's not called swine flu over here ( It's to protect the farmers in case peeps stop buying pork!) It's called Grippe A.
I'm sure there are peeps on here who have already had it or known someone who has- but as no-one else has replied yet , I thought I'd post something. As I understand it, isn't swine flu just like 'normal' flu but with diarrhoea and/or vomiting too????

I've just Googled it- and it is a bit confusing isn't it??

Sorry you're not feeling well, I hope you feel better soon. If you phone NHS direct they should be able to advise you and prescribe Tamiflu if they feel the need. Wrap up warm and stay in bed.

My son had swine flu and his symptons were normal flu plus vomiting, lack of appetite for food or drink, really bad cough and he slept most of the time. He was really poorly and it was very scary but he did recover, he was bad for two weeks.

I had something similar over Christmas - and as a result so did LadyWayne. She seemed to get it worse than me, so went to the doctors and he just told her it was a cold. He then said "do you want me to prescribe you some antibiotics..."

He's one of the few rubbish doctors at our surgery, but still.

Mine started on Christmas Eve, and with brief boughts of respite I seemingly have still got the cough bit.

Hope you're feeling better much sooner, and hope you get a decent diagnosis.

Sorry you are feeling unwell. The only real way to know if you have swine flu is to take a mouth swab and perform a test that detects the viral RNA directly. That was done initially to monitor the epidemic but once a lot of people started to get flu symptoms then it became too expensive and impractical to test everyone.

Sorry to hear your not well Jackie, I too had the flu like bug that's going round over the holiday period, when I phoned the Dr he told me to keep warm, try and drink plenty of fluid (None alcoholic...booo) eat small regular meals and take paracetamol. Mine went onto my chest so I ended up with a chest infection and had to have antibiotics, I've still got a bit of a cough but all in all I feel fine. Hope you feel much better soon, ((((((((((((((((((((((((BIG HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))) hope they help keep you warm. xx

Take care Jackie, even if you can't sleep I'd stay in bed & keep warm & drink lots of fluids. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Commiserations from me too - hope you perk up soon!

The Chiropractor asked last night if I was 'nurturing' a cold, she said my glands were up, and promptly prodded them! They didn't hurt, luckily. My nose is a bit 'iffy' today, so maybe she triggered sommat.

Jackie - hope you'll soon be feeling better. Just stay in the warm and as Ginger says, take paracetamol and keep drinking lots of fluids.

Ginger - Just like you to be concerned about someone else even though you're going through a very bad patch yourself. Take care and my prayers are with you.

What you say I think is true Jackie. Our bodies have a way of telling to take five. Listen to your body and take ten if you need to.

Today I am still streaming so I called work to say I wont be in and they said I had to check wether I had swine flu or not. I rang the swineflu number and after answering the long list of questions was given Tamiflu but I still think I just have seasonal flu, Iam taking the tamiflu anyway. To me this seems a waste of money that cold be spent elsewhere, how many people have been given it even though its not properly diagnosed. If work hadnt insisted I rang I wouldnt have.
                              Thanks for all good wishes.
