  • Not Quite 6th Night......

......but I decided to put the decorations away and spring clean. I had some help from my assistant, Gussie....

Interiors for 2013 Dhalings! We're going for minimalist; Sparkle is OUT, fairy lights are OUT (not literally) Dying vegetation is OUT, Tinsel is OUT. This January's interiors are DULL dahlings, DULL. Dull is THE in thing until Spring.....DULL is the NEW SPARKLE!

Put mine away too. I always get to thinking about what we'll be up to next time they come out in a little over 11 months time. Nellie was too busy sleeping on the bed to help.

Our decorations are down and the rooms back to normal, I always think its odd how bare looking it is now though.

I never take mine down before 12th night (and conveniently it's at the weekend this year ) but do put them up much later than most people otherwise they'd be annoying me by now. Usually put them up the weekend before Christmas but was slightly early this year as we did them on 17th.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

We had our decs up much longer than usual this Christmas. I would have waited until 12th night but if the DD is moving house this weekend, then it will be all hands on deck for that and the decs would then be up past 12th Night.

I put our tree away this morning too. It reminded me why I don't "do" Xmas: it's just extra work. I was packing, vacuuming and dusting for 5 hours, and that's just the one tree, in the one room.

Bladdy glitter gets everywhere, tinsel too.

It took me that long, too. Probably 98% of the ornaments are glass, so all need individual packing and boxing, then haul them up the ladder back into the loft. Plus the tree in two separate tree bags, and it seems to shed as many "needles" as a real one so have to hoover from Ground Zero all the way to the loft hatch.
My bro has plastic ornaments - takes him half an hour to yank them off and shove into a couple of plastic carrier bags, job done!

Ours are now all down and back up in the loft - the front room looks about twice the size it did a couple of hours ago

Youngest son put Christmas back in the loft yesterday. I put it back in the box on Friday in the steadfast hope that I get it out again next year.

Pity that doesn't work with the stamp as well missus. The cost of sending cards has become prohibitive
