  • Nigella Express

I know this should be on another forum but .....

Anyone have the recipe for chicken drumsticks marinated in buttermilk from Nigella express ?

I also wanted to know if I can use an alternative to the buttermilk as I cant find it in my local stores or do you know where I can get it ?

Feel free to move but thought I would have more chance of a reply here

Here's a link to the recipe.
BBC - Food - Recipes: Buttermilk chicken drumsticks

Not sure about buttermilk but yogurt diluted down to buttermilk consistency is, if my memory serves me, a substitute - however this one suggests acidulated milk

It is delicious. I was given the book and made them for my brother's wedding buffet - went down well and the chicken stays lovely and moist.

As an alternative to buttermilk you could use half natural yogurt/ half milk or I did see one of the Tv chefs use a buttermilk substitue which was regular milk with a little lemon juice squeezed in. The lemon juice curdles the milk, but don't let it scare you!

I think that would be great as its only used as a marinade, no worries what it looks like.

              Thankyou CT

Make some butter out of cream (see making butter thread) for your own fresh buttermilk!
