  • Nice man :)

I won't bore you with the details but I've a had a rubbish couple of days (one of those things where just when you think things can't get any worse, they do ). Anyway, I've just had a lovely things happen which has restored my faith in human nature a bit. I live over the road from a little shop where the chap who runs it buys huge job lots of stuff to sort and sell on. He quite often has gardening things and I've bought loads of old-but-serviceable tools from him, mainly for just £1 or £2 each! I called in today and picked up a lawn scarifier, a fruit picker on a pole thing and three really nice large planters. He asked me for £7, which I thought was brilliant, THEN asked if I could use any plant pots and bits and bobs. I said of course (who can't!?) and he produced four enormous crates full of pots and two watering cans and said they were mine to take away, free, gratis and for nothing He even helped me carry them home.

The pots all need a bit of a clean up but there are lots of different sizes, different shapes, even a few teracotta ones! Quite turned my day around, that

I walked right out of the machinery

"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Sorry about your Rubbish days Seahorse but good to hear about your good fortune from over the road. I think most people are good - it just doesn't always get the publicity it deserves.

Mmmm.... gets you like that sometimes Seahorse, she said, talking from experience (!)
and I'm so sorry to hear that things have been a bit wonky for you lately.
I really love it when someone does stuff for me like that, but it's dead embarassing for them when I burst into tears because of their thoughtfulness.
Luckily, Hazel at the Hill never has to witness that, but I think my Postman is beginning to get a bit @issed off with his tear-drenched waterproof now?!

Looking at it from outside the box....(he he) those crates will come in usefull.

                      Funny story:

Friend of mine who knows I am a plain cloths skip raider phoned me as a "crate" had turned up at her house and did I want it. I went round and it was 12foot long 4ft sq. She had driven home and it was there in the drive. Post marked Italy.

Turns out her brother has moved to north london and had it sea fraighted at a bargin price about a year before.

he comes over from North london and opens it and it if full of old tools, and stuff.

He has nowhere to put it and she don't want it in the drive so ask me to take it all up the tip......as if. So I end up with loads of great old tools and a pond liner that is about 40ft sq and a hose that is about 200ft long.

Go up the allotemnt to get the trailer and think about how to get this box to the tip. When I over hear a new plot holder saying he is looking for a tool store......so grab him and the outcome:

                      Neighbour happy.
                      Neighbours Brother happy
                      Plot holder happy
Me everyones new friend very happy with loads of free tools....
