  • Nice Freebie

Just received my seeds from Suttons.

Included was a nice seed freebie. The packet contains 2 Blood Butcher, 2 Christmas Grape, 2 Golden Cheery, 2 Tanaki, 2 Yellow Debut, 2, Garden Peach, 2 Red Zebra, 2 Snowberry, 1 Sultana, 2 Tangerilla and 1 Tigerilla.

I make that 20 Toms seeds none of which I have grown before which makes me happy.

Only problem one tom seed looks pretty much like another and because I don't have room to grow them all this year it looks like it might be a lucky dip.

Don't mean to be rude PTD but how much money did you have to spend to get those free?

Moop I don't think it was how much you spend I ordered over the net and the offer was there more or less straight away.

My order value was less than £25

Thats the trouble BM they are not identified in the packet.

I have just done a bit of research to find out what they look like etc. So will label them when the toms arrive.

I ordered some red alert tom seeds this afternoon from suttons, as I only have room for one or two bush toms, and the free seeds are coming to me too. Where am I going to put them? (You notice I don't say - I have no space to grow these - how can I not grow a freebie?).

I also ordered a packet of flower seeds and find I am getting some free peony flowered poppy seeds. Those I have space for, in a "chuck it around, see what comes up" sort of way.

Thanks PTD, I will have a look, free is good. I've already ordered from Marshalls + T&M so I'll have to be on my best behaviour

I like the look of Garden Peach and Snowberry, however I'm really put off that they're all mixed up. Like you I grow in pots so I can't sow 20 tomato seeds, what to do...

Sow the number of seeds you can grow successfully. Take 'pot luck' on which varieties you get and save the other seeds for next year. Some are heritage varieties so if you like them you will be able to save some seed for the year after that.

I sowed my whole pack and have 16 seedlings.

Now doing some research so I'm ready to ident when the time is ready and can't find much about Tanaki or Tangerilla? Anyone heard of those?

Also T&M list Golden Cherry as an F1 so might not be worth saving?

Seems like a good mix of toms cant wait to get some fruit and start I.D.ing.

Bloody Butcher has potato leaves. The others I think are all regular leaf although I've never grown Tanaki and it's not mentioned in Ventmarin description. tomates t

Paulieb, I wonder if Tangerilla is perhaps Tangella?
