  • New phone - can I transfer text messages?

OK, I know very little about theses things and don't understand any strange techy terms so need very simple idiot type answers . Anyway, just replaced my old Android phone with another Android model. Both are Samsung Galaxy models. I've got the contacts and photos transferred over but don't know how I can do the same with text messages. The old phone no longer has a memory card or SIM installed but is otherwise functioning as I can see the messages on there. I've tried Googling but all the options I can see either make no sense at all or require payments which I don't want to do for something that nobody I know has used. And remember, one sylabul answers required without the use of acronyms . Thanks.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

What was the old model, and what is the new? And do you have a connector to your PC?

I'm thinking that there will be an option to backup from your old phone to the pc, then update to your new one, (which a cleverer person than I may be able to talk you though) and knowing the model will help, I think.

I've just had a new phone, I replaced an HTC with another one. There is a transfer tool for HTC so Samsung might have something similar. Either that or you can use Bluetooth.

Yes, but that doesn't seem to see text messages

Yes, found that myself on Google, it's one of the options I found that you have to pay for. Has anybody used it successfully? Am loathed to pay out for something that hasn't been recommended by a real user as have fallen for that before and bought duds.

Which one finally works for you? I am facing the same problem with you. I did with Smart Switch app but it can't detect my old phone.

I couldn't get anything to work properly so gave up. Worked on the principal that a clear out was probably due.
