    New Dobbies to open in Speke

    Whoo hooo

    Finally, a decent garden centre within 3 miles of me.


    Garden centre chain Dobbies plans to open a store in Liverpool, which it says will create 120 jobs.

    The firm says the development off Speke Boulevard near Liverpool Airport will be environmentally friendly and built from sustainably-sourced timber.

    I wonder if I could get a pt job there???

    No selling experience though. Might be a problem. What do you think?



    The site will also house a food hall, offering local produce from Merseyside and Cheshire.





    An exhibition on the Dobbies proposals will be held at the Parklands City Learning Centre in Speke on Wednesday, from 1400 BST until 2000 BST.

    I think I will pop down and have a look-see.

    Go for it! You may not have selling experience but you do have growing experience (does that make sense?) I love the coffee in Dobbies but have to say a lot of the plants look ropey - someone tell Dobbies plants need water

      I think the growing experience will be more valid than sales experience

        Well I went.
        There was a big room with picture boards of what it would look like and where it was going to be situated.
        It is only a couple of miles from where I live, yay.

        I don't think it has been too well publicised as there was more staff there than visitors, a bit disappointing for them I think.
        I only found out about it by accident as I went on the local news web-page and saw a brief written article about it there.

        I am glad I went and I will put an application in, but I think my lack of sales experience may be an issue. Just being an enthusiastic amateur is probably not going to be enough.

          Yeah, but you can learn how to use a till; whereas plant knowledge takes alot longer.
