  • needing abit of help.

Hi guys, sorry havent been on here for a while.

I need abit of advice. I have a disabled husband that cant leave the house. We both had the flu a few weeks ago. Since the flu my husband has lost most of his vision We have a visiting optician but they are not going to be able to see him for a month! Im incredibly worried about him. We had one optician out and he had no idea.

Has any one else had anything like this?

    how awful.

GP home visit? It may be unrelated to the flu, but GP should know

Sorry to hear about that Jax. I have never heard of anything like that but perhaps a call to NHS direct might help.

He certainly needs to see his GP- and refered onto a specialist urgently. I've no idea what the problem is but you'd kick yourselves if you'd hung around for it to improve if it actually needed urgent attention.
          Is he diabetic???

Do you have an emercency eye hospital near you???

I agree with TS......deffinately a GP home visit. He/She may be able to get a quick Opthalmology referral for you.

Yeah we have spoken to the doctors, been in regular contact. He seems reluctant to come out but I think we have managed to swing a home visit tommorrow so fingers crossed.

                  Quite right too!!

I'd try and pin him down to explain exactly what he thinks it is...and if not sure, gently suggest that maybe a specialist could at least put all your minds at ease?

Flipping heck- flu shouldn't make you blind!! ( well I've never heard of it!...not that I'm a consultant)

Can he definately assure you that it's not going to get worse????

( I'm afraid I'd very gently put him on the spot) Good grief- from the sounds of it, it's the last thing your OH needs to go wrong-( nor you) x

                  ..all the best for tomorrow.

Thank goodness you have managed to get the home visit that you deserve. Surely, under the circumstances, your plight must be recognised as priority. I do know that NHS support varies from location to location but this must be verging on negligence.

So far we have had no support from the nhs. On a previous note, he is not diabetc and nor is he on any medication. I am planning on putting him on the spot. I want it sorting, and I want it now!!! lol

Be nice but be very firm. You and your husband are entitled to proper healthcare.
