  • Mysterious phonecalls!

Anyone out there staying in the Brentwood Hotel, Aberdeen tonight? Well don't ring me again 'cos you have the wrong number!
Why do people ring a number and then not have the decency to apologise, or even say something, not just a bit of heavy breathing and ring off?

Reminds me of a text eldest got t'other day .....some guy saying how he'd enjoyed their date and was texting as promised.......She texted him to say sorry but his date obviously didn't feel the same way .....

EeeeWWWW!!!!! You know, Technically you could probably find out who that was if you contacted the hotel and made a complaint. Supposing "He" called from a room he was booked into, they could check and see who was staying in that room. Of course it could just have been a particularly clever Woolly Mammoth who just happened to mis-dial and was too shy to say anything....

And why do some people dial the wrong number, apologise profusely, and then dial the same number two minutes later?

I used to get a phonecall every year form a lovely old lady in London wishing me a happy birthday. It was my birthday, but I wasn't her daughter, and no matter how many times I told her, she just didn't get that it wasn't her daughters number.....

Perhaps I should quantify the heavy breathing bit - don't want to appear to alarmist! It wasn't much more than a couple of wheezes and a puff really! I would have put the phone down before anything else, I assure you. I don't answer number withheld or International calls but if the display shows a telephone number I do. Neither do I say anything except Hello or Yes, if I don't recognise the number - or I let the Answerphone kick in and see what they say.
I was just annoyed that someone rings a number quite late at night, and hasn't the courtesy to say its a wrong number - or Thanks, just what I needed!

i had a text the other day saying how much she had enjoyed our date and she'd love to meet up again and pounce on me .... i could have got into some serious trouble with the missus .....!!!

and i bet there are loads of innocent people out there who have got into loads of trouble from a wayward text to the wrong number ....

I had a text message from some bloke to his mate - Meet you in the pub at 8. -I ignored it.
About 10, another text - Why didn't you show up, I need that money - I ignored it
Then the messages became more abusive so I texted the chap and said he had the wrong number.
Impossible says he, this is the number you gave me. And so it went on until I rang him and told him to stop as it was the wrong number. He was so horrible and rude as if it was my fault - I'm not surprised his mate didn't show up!

Here's hoping it wasn't an asthmatic who was having an attack and trying to contact a loved one before collapsing on the floor in a heap.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

I do this all the time sorry, someone gives you a number to call them on, you do and get someone else on the line. You apologise and ring the number again assuming you must have dialed the number incorrectly, only to discover no they gave you the wrong number to start with.

Its easily done, sorry, sorry, sorry, SORRY.......
