  • My wife may have the bug!

Ha ok so probably all of you know about my recent two years and quite a few ops on my leg/foot and It has stopped me going to the plot as of late.

My wife wanted to cover it over for this year so I said ok lets have a bed of spuds and do the greenhouse just to cover the rent.

Well after my op I just wanted to stay in high spirits and sow a few bits which kinda went down like a lead balloon but.......

I think she might be getting the bug.....

Weekend she went to a garden centre on her own accord and she has been up digging for the past 3 days she even come home from the plot with some pictures of bean and pea frames she also wanted some seeds to take up today (this will be the first time ever she has actually sown seed) and all in all she seemed over the moon that it looked like a real allotment.

I hope she has as it will be do nice to share a hobby I love with someone I love

I'm quite happy that the OH is not taking an interest in the lottie, I'm happy to accept the occasional visit like royalty for the tour of the plot doffing cap etc. When she's gone though I think phew inspection over for this year.....

If the OH took a genuine interest, I think I'd struggle to get what I want in the ground, it would look far less regimented and far more organic.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

My OH, has no interest at all, apart from eating the produce, but he has built fruit cage, and raised beds, and occasionally pays me a visit on the Plot, and I take him round and 'show' what's growing, and I get excited when pointing out things like, 'see potatoes growing', and 'oh there's an onion coming up!

But, must say this suits both of us, he goes off cycling and I go digging n planting

That's brilliant news Darc, at least you don't have it in the back of your mind that she has to do it but actually "wants" to..............am chuffed for you.

Good news, DVQ - now make sure that you heartily praise her and approve of everything she achieves, even if you don't Nothing worse than having a critical partner on the plot
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

My wife sowed peas direct today after making a little frame weeded the onions too!

But I'm a little concerned as she come home and said "right the strawberry bed is going tomorrow"

After me asking "why we have to have strawberries"

Her response was "it's a mess I don't want strawberries up there far to hard to weed I'm getting rid but don't worry I will get some planters and compost from @$d@ tonight far easier to keep and the kids can pick them if there in the garden"

Yup I've married a very logical woman lol

I say Darcy, she is getting you sorted, I told you to take your chair and a beer, and just give instructions!

Wouldn't worry, there is no way your wife will get rid of the strawberries, all ladies love strawberries, mind you, you might be fighting with your children to get a look in!

I think it's nice she might be getting a bit hooked now. It's good to bump gums with someone who is also kinda interested in the same thing.

My Oh glazes over as soon as I mention anything to do with gardening. One day I might just whack him with the spade and see how he feels being buried under it!
