  • My Pooter's Broked...

My ickle pooter is not very well at all
It's not coming on at all sometimes (the power comes on but the drive doesn't) And then when it does come on it doesn't boot properly, just starts the BIOS settings bit, and says that the settings are wrong. I can start it on default settings but then the time's all wrong etc. I don't know if it's something gone wrong as a result of me dropping it, or if it's something completely different I'm just waiting for our friend Bob to come round and see if he can sort it.
I really hope he can, t'isn't practical (or affordable!) to be on here on me phone...!
I'll catch up with you all later if i can get on the other pc.

can you not wipe it clean and reset it? something like F9 OR F10 when u first boot it up, hit one of em and it will take you thru the process.............if not we are going to have to raise money to keep our MOD on board lol........scary idea of you not being about as much, I mean zazens always swanning off to do's and stuff lol......
Dont worry about tomorrow, live for today

Usually if the settings and the time is not being retained I would look towards the CMOS battery, does it start if you default it and put in the time etc

Yeah, what TEB said, sounds like CMOS battery, how old's the pooter?

Yes, it does, comes on if you select default settings, and it's Midnight, sometime in 2004
Bob said the same as you, but the pooter is only 8 months old so he was puzzled too. But, even more annoying, we can't get it to go wrong now It's come back on normally about 5 times now... Hate it when that happens!
Anyway, it's still under warranty, so I'll be ringing the 'Help'line tomorrow

I had this on a puter of mine too. Intermittent faults and dodgy timekeeping. It was under warrantee and it took a long time to get them to accept it but turned out it was a faulty motherboard.

                        Good luck getting it sorted.

                        I wish it was 2004... I'd only be 21... ( I wish....)
