    My little taskmaster!

    My daughter turned two just before Christmas. For the past few months I've been playing a little game with her where she pretends to plant a seed in my fist, then waters it and makes the sun shine to make the seed grow. First a finger pops up, then my whole arm and then I open my hand to show her the "beautiful flower". At 2 years old, this is quality entertainment I tell you.

    On Monday, I received one of the pass-the-parcel seed packages. She helped me open it up and as soon as she realised that they were all seeds, she immediately wanted to start planting! I fobbed her off on Monday with some bean sprouts in a jar and French beans in kitchen paper, but today she was after me again! I have been a bit lazy with the bad weather and haven't sowed anything yet, but now it seems my lazy days are over since the boss now wants to do some planting!

            Awwww isnt that sweet, I used to let my daughter grow cress when she was little, she loved watching them grow, then eating them! Innocence is so lovely

              Keep her interest growing MG it tends to wear off once they hit teen age years lol then you get garden back. My ten year old still does some growing as did my fifteen year old.
              The fifteen year old doesn't do any now but put in her order for mange tout peas!

                I have to add her latest trick to this. Yesterday evening she was in the backyard with us. I came inside to prep something for dinner while my husband was BBQing. My daughter scared dear old non-gardening hubbie because he turned and found that she was eating some sort of plant he didn't recognise. He brought her into me quickly and I reassured him it was okay, she was just eating a sorrel leaf from a patch I planted in the garden. I showed her them a few weeks ago and she liked them but last night was the first time I've know her to help herself. The leaf is on a long stem, so she called it a lollipop. I now call them lettuce lollipops, haha. I went back out and she wanted one and then another and another. She must have eaten about 4 or 5 of them. I am glad she likes the sorrel, but we'll have to emphasize that she's not to eat anything unless we are there to say it's okay.

                  When HB was younger she did a great job thinning spring onions and carrots at my aunts whilst on hols there part of reason we started Growing ourselves have to say last year dont think any spring onions made it to full size!

                    Thinning and harvesting are skills toddlers seem to develop early. I just wish weeding was more appealing to her, but she tends to do a Godzilla style weeding when offered the chance. That involves destroying everything in her path.
