Default My good deed for the week

Plot neighbours of ours are a lovely retired couple but unfortunately John had a stroke last summer, he is back on his feet although quite unsteady but in good cheer.

To help him get onto the plots I made some hand rail earlier in the year which helps him tremendously, however their wooden greenhouse is falling to bits and its unsafe for John to go in really.

Amazingly a freecycle advert got me a cracking 6x6 greenhouse for them which I collected last night. Next week it will be assembled and with the addition of a hand rail inside, John will be able to garden safely whilst his wife can get on outside.

Its a great feeling helping somebody else, I cant wait to see their faces when its all up and ready to use.

How did you approach this, PW. We know of an elderly lady (84) who usually grows most of her own veg, but she's having health problems at the moment. We would like to offer to help out, but don't want to cause offence or make her feel helpless.

Well done David, it's little stories like that, that really do restore faith in mankind.

Sometimes it doesn't take a huge effort, but it does make a huge difference.

I can just imagine their happiness, from your efforts, David.

I'm just two plots away from Piglet, and today we got a couple of lovely leeks from him! (and a greenhouse is on the way! Am I lucky or what? )
