My daughter is off to Uni tomorrow as well.

    My daughter is off to Uni tomorrow as well.

    It doesn't seem 5 minutes since I was changing her nappy, watching her first steps and taking her to school for the first time. Now she's off to Uni (well actually it's agricultural college as there isn't a Uni that does Equine degrees).

    Tomorrow I'm moving her lock, stock and riding equipment to Bishop Burton, to start an Honours Degree. I am so very proud of her and will miss her dearly.

    Yes- you will miss her...a very proud but sad moment for you...be prepared to have a big sob as you leave xxx

      Last year my son went to uni (to do biochemistry at Bristol) and although he has been fearcely independant since he was 12 and it was great to have my office back, I still missed him, although I felt much better after I visited him and saw he had nice flat mates etc. Its a big step but a neccessary one.

        I saw son no1 off back to Hull last Monday, Kissykit to Portsmouth today, and son No2 goes to London tomorrow. I'm left with OH and 5 cats, and it will seem very empty without them all. Kissykit has already called to say goodnight as she's suffering jetlag after coming back from California yesterday.
        I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
        Now a little Shrinking Violet.

            LOL, very, very small world, as Bishop Burton is about 20 miles from Hull and I live just the other side of the Humber Bridge .

              I have just finished uni and I am finding it scary how young people coming in are this year, born in 1992!! I am only young but I remember 1992!

              Hmm...If your daughter ever wishes to do an Equine MA Aberystwyth University does both equine degrees and MAs and PHDs, I have friends who did equine and agricultural studies. A link incase she wishes to look up http://www.aber.ac.uk/en/ibers/study...quine-science/

                  Stiff upper lip mum, pride and sadness merged I guess.
                  My kids took after their dad and left skool as soon as was humanly possible, so I never got to cart them off to Uni for a few years.

                    Thanks everyone .

                    Well she moved in on Sunday and what an awaful day it was, weatherwise, raining constantly for the whole day. The pickup cab AND bed were full to the rafters (so to speak) with everything, it turned out, except her coat hangers .

                    Her room is lovely, with tonnes of storage AND her own en-suite and the accommodation area is so secure that I am much more relaxed about her safety. Seems she's met quite a few like minded, horse mad, girls already and is throwing herself into Freshers week with slightly more enthusiasm than I'd like , if truth be known but you're only young once.
