    My Dad

    48 years ago today my dad was taken from us through ill health aged 51 yrs. he has missed so much of our lives and us of his. were he alive today he would have reached the age of 99 yrs. He is the person i got my gardening genes from.
    So to my dad i will raise a glass and as soon as i am able will visit his grave.
    Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
    and ends with backache

      Hope you have a big celebration next year too!

      I miss my pa too- died in 1978 aged 56 ...he showed me the joys of gardening too.
      Glass raised to your pa...I do still miss mine from time to time...strange- you'd think you'd get used to them being gone wouldn't you????

      Never saw me married- but met my OH as my boyfriend..never saw the grandchildren...sad.

        Oh I feel so sad for you both. I am so lucky to still have my Dad and I am 37 and he is 68 - he is my hero and I love him so very much. You have inspired me to tell him so - gonna ring him right now!

          Lost my dad 14years ago age 54. Still miss him badly.If you still have yours, make the best and most of him you can while you have the chance.Ooh this is getting to sad!

            I still have mine, he`s 72 and he still goes into the garden everyday. He is an inspiration to me. Always giving advice on the garden.
            I think he is secretly proud that one of his children grows their own.
            I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

              Stumbled on this not realising what it might be, and I had a lump in my throat. Lost my dad when I was 5 years old, I can still remember the day..thats 48 years ago now, and god sometimes I wish he was stiil around for me, and to see my 4 grown up sons...but thats life as they say...anyway I have you lot to winge to, and get advice about my veggies...lol.

                I know how you feel as i was 6 years old the month before he died my sisters were 10 and 11yrs. My dad like most dads wanted a son and got three girls to him we were his princesses,he would be so proud of my four sons and my nephew, also two little great grandsons. When I married I so wanted him to be there.
                We talk about him a lot and when mum died she was buried with him even though she had remarried. He was a dad to be proud of and I loved him very much.
