  • My Babe...all grown up!!:(

Well, tonight we had a new parents night at the school & tomorrow arvo my ickle boy will(hopefully)be enjoying his 1st induction day at big boy school!!!
Part of me is really excited for him...but hate to admit that the other half is desperately sad to say goodbye to the "baby years"!...I'll miss our arvos sat watching The Incredbles & playing with his knights & castles,(& big secret from his new big boy chums....DD's fairies!!)...On the plus,I'll have far more lottie time once they're both at school,(at the mo about 3hrs of my day is spent on school/nursery run!)& I guess I could make an attempt at a bit of housework....but still a bit sad to say goodbye to this chapter in their life.....

That first day is a tear jerker! When Lauren started full time, she tried on her uniform the day before and I blubbed!!
The baby years are so special. At risk of sounding sappy, I treasure every day with my girl, she turned 8 yesterday, and it only seems like 5 minutes ago I brought her home from hospital.

It's not even his 1st proper day!!!I've got another 3 1/2 days to get through....then possibly the worst....last day of nursery! He starts for proper in January,we're holding off from buying uniform til christmas hols...just to give us another tearjerking moment!
I had a teacher & secretary take me to oneside & remind me that underwear/lunch & shoes are compulsary!(I think it was in good humour!??)...poor chappie....his ma's reputation precedes him!!

...well I'm back here to do "housework"...so if I keep bursting into baby talk/tears midpost, then please understand!!
What was horrible was getting the little info pack with a passport for him to fill in....even tho it was 1&1/2 years ago that DD started,it really does seem only like yesterday that she was filling it in!!....& only the day before that he was all wrapped up snug in a little blanket being his mummy's ickle baby...& O.K I'll stop!!But be prepared for a blithering wreck tomorrow!!

It was never the 'growing up' that upset me with our three. While they are young they don't have a care in the world. Even the trials and tribulations of the teenage years lose importance for them as they get older. What I find difficult is the young adult years. Finding a job, being happy in that job, paying the bills, paying the mortgage or rent, and worrying about their own children. It breaks my heart to see them having to deal with all the crap that adult life throws at us.

Trust me, you'll worry about them until the day they put you in your grave or senile dementia robs you of the ability to worry about them. I know worrying shows that we care but it doesn't get any easier.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

I;m with you on that one snuffer Out of my four boys one works as a DJ and struggles to find work, paying the rent is a nightmare but eased off a bit now his gf has moved in, two recently lost their jobs, one because they couldnt afford to keep him on and the other because he lost the keys, seems a daft situation when he only started recently that the company allows people to take the keys home as soon as they start even though the manager knew him personally so knew he would be a bit unreliable. One son is working full time but only earns minimum wage.
My daughter is still at school and I remember when she started nursery at three years old ( as i do all of them ) it didnt seem long before she moved into infants then junior ( all one school ) now she is in year eight. I watched some older girls the other day all dressed up on a night out and I thought cripes it wont be long and no way will she be dressed like that !!!
Enjoy every day Di, watch them grow with pride.

....Bless'm...they can't win can they!!DD was an emotional wreck when she started & literally had to be dragged off me...I can remember looking at the more settled kiddies, wishing she'd be the same!..This time round I get to experience the other extreme....!Chuffed to bits really that he's so happy & confident, but now got that odd empty kinda feelin'!!Maybe I'll have just one more coffee before tackling the ironing!!
