  • musical???

Hi all..i see quite a few people take interest in the just for fun thread on here which is music based and just wondered if we had any talented musicians amongst us.? I play guitar..mainly electric bit have an acoustic and a bass aswell and mess around with those...i mainly like to play pearl jam, metallica, and some pop music thats a bit softer like tracy chapman,r.e.m,james blunt..just to have a little sing along to.anyone else play around with music?

I can play London's Burning and one or two other tunes on a recorder and like a lot of people I can pick out a few tunes on the piano
I can read music to sing. A long time ago I was in the church choir, Royal School of Church Music no less! Bet you didn't expect that Bretty
I do love JFF - I think I could probably carry on a conversation in lyrics, as you all well know!

Go you florence! I dont read music though..i just use chord names and tableture..b.m plays the comb...me.the guitar...andy thr drums..flo cans sing. i think i can sing...we have a band"!!
My son wanted to learn the drums andy but im not happy about the choice..he could have it as a 2nd instrument but not as a first as drums are...dead end?? If you play guitar you can pick up any stringed instrument after if you get bored..if you play dax then you could easily transfer to another wind.but drums are just drums...theres not mch else you can transfer to.and drums are always more pleasure to play as part of a band or at least with a bassist but flute.sax.piano.guitar....you can jam away on your own....what do you play on the drums andy??? Can you do any pantera?? Hes a good drummer

Unfortunately i don't but by OH plays classical guitar and I have twin boys who both play something! One is keen on the the drums and is particularly good on the African drum, the other twin is very musical and plays the piano as his first instrument, clarinet, guitar (electric and classical) steel pans and anything else he can get his hands on. I know that someone on here played the banjo really well though can't remember his name - just remember it because that really is one instrument that gets on my nerves when my son practices!
This is my boys just gone 11 with their Xmas pressies!

I use to play the violin but actually wanted to play the oboe. Ended having to learn the violin because the string section was low on players.
OH can play the guitar and in his youth was in a band.
Kids at the moment aren't interested in playing yet just dancing around. Think the school does guitar and recorder classes so I think little girl will want to learn something.

Hmm yes it was pricey but we looked at is as something he will keep for a lifetime. Second hand is the way to go. All the family chipped in and he saved hard for it too, much better than computer games and pieces of plastic - 4 years on and it still gets used every week.
...he had his first guitar at 5, it's a little small for him now but he has it hanging on his wall.

Thank you! Yes, I'm a very proud Mum but to be fair I've let them make as much noise as they've wanted because I'm usually outside in the garden enjoying the peace.
