  • MP's expenses

Well, it seems that our Home Secretary, the Rt Honourable Jaqui Smith MP is a moral thief, swagging over a £100k to kip at her sisters house a few nights per week by claiming it is her main residence.

Me thinks if it were me, the men in big hats would have me handcuffed and under caution within the hour.

Personally, I think her actions have shown her true character, irrespective of whether or not her claims fell within the "guidelines".

Bent, shallow and grasping come to mind.

Just think how long it's all been covered up and we have been funding them their extra houses for years.

What a horrible sister to be charging that much for rent for a few nights a week! And like many other MPs they employ their relatives as a secretary. I'm sure that is contrary to the Equal Opportunities Act.

The most disgusting thing is that she is entitled to a grace & favour residence, or, to put it another way a "Tied Cottage", rent free, in London, secure, owned by the state, BUT she don't get any cash for living in it...........

Please can we swap the current lot and all the opposition parties for the New President of the Maldives, who I quote below.

"When we started this administration, the presidency was costing more than $150m (£105m) a year," he said. "This is something we simply can't afford. We've brought it down to $4m.
"I don't feel the cut, and we can use the rest of the money for old age pensioners, for schools, for housing and very many things we need now."

He is a glowing example, full story on BBC NEWS | World | South Asia | Extreme makeunder in the Maldives

The money isn't for the sister.

By claiming her sisters houe as her main home she can claim the family home (the one the husband and kids live in ) as her second home, She is then claiming £100000 for the upkeep of that home

My friend was reported for Housing Benefit Fraud because some said she had a man living with her

Turns out it was her brother who was visiting from Australia for a fortnight, was about the 10th day of his trip when the door went and it was the housing officer doing a home inspection

She never did get an apology
