  • Mowing in warm weather

Just wanted to highlight the risks of mowing in flip flops/bare feet/ light shoes/sandles.

Just make sure you wear something suitable so that if you slip or are distracted that you keep all yr toes

Accidents do happen- just be careful peeps

Been there, done that Nicos, stripped the skin off the bottom of my foot when edging the lawn in sandals!! Never ever cut grass, or do anything apart from harvesting without boots on. Not wellies cos they make my feet sweat, but leather walking boots. I was really glad of them the other day when I accidentally strimmed my foot! Another thing people often forget is eye protection - I've found it really good when strimming. The amount of c*** that ends up on the glasses makes me wonder what state my eyes would have been in if I hadn't worn them.

I always garden in safety boots even if I am wearing shorts.
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

I've been strimming all day and still have all my toes thankfully (rigger boots)
My arms and face are all tingly with nettle stings though! (nowt a good bath won't sort out..........hopefully!)

I have seen the results of people not wearing safety boots(I worked in an engineering factory for 24 years)and it is not a pretty sight.

Totally agree with you regarding the boots - as I said, I always wear them (but not with shorts, my legs aren't fit to face the world)

Shorts and riggers look very dapper!

I'm passed caring I don't care what I look like when I'm an the allotment.
I don't dress to please others if other people don't like to see me in shorts & boots that's their problem.

The most annoying thing about wearing workboots in the Summer(which I always do at the lottie)is when you do finally get your sandals on you realise you've got a hideous tan line around your ankles......but also I guess all your toes which is obviously a good thing.
