  • Most hated housework task

I must admit Ive got a couple of pet hates.
Firstly ironing - but Im lucky enough to have a very nice lady who does mine for me.
But, secondly - changing the duvet cover! I've just spent half an hour trying to stuff ours into the cover . I hate it because its hard work and I end up knackered afterwards!*
    a) does anyone have any tips for doing this easily
    b) whats your most hated housework task?
*I need a lie down in my newly changed bed now.............

    1) Put duvet cover on inside out.
    2) Put your hands into 2 of the corners and grab the corresponding corners of the duvet.
    3) Keeping hold of those corners, shake and shuffle the cover over the duvet
    4) At some point you have to let go - if it's a struggle, put pegs on the corners instead of your hands, while you sort out the remaining 2 corners

I really hate ironing, cos OH presents so much of it.

What irks me the most though is having to wipe hair off everything: the bath, the sink and also floors.

You'd think we had a dog? No, OH is just very (very) hirsute

Ah my number one hated task is cleaning the oven. However I bought an oven with stay clean walls, put a Lakeland oven liner in the bottom and now I use oven pride for my racks and they come up beautifully no stress. Buuuutt, if like me, you are so impressed with the oven pride stuff, don't do like I did and bung anything you can find to clean in it afterwards, lest wasting it's cleaning power. I used to have two big non stick baking sheets, I now have two shiny silver ones (doh !!).

Other hated task is ironing. Hubbie does the uniforms and his shirt in the morning and I'm a dab hand at folding and smoothing before compressing the clothes in over full cupboards...works a treat.

My pet hate is..... all of it! LOL!

We do the Duvet cover together (Aaaaah!) it's soooo much easier.
I hate washing up (no room, so Dishwasher in storage ).
I detest cleaning the bathroom (what does he DO in there? Actually, I don't want to know and he can clean it).
Oh yeah, I forgot, dusting! Booooorrriiiiinngg!

When I lived on my own my place was always tidy and always spotless. Then I married a slob!

I was going to say all of it too, Glutton 4 -like minds, eh?
As for the duvet cover - my method won't work if you live in a bungalow but it involves stuffing the duvet down the middle to the bottom of the cover, roughly locating the corners, then hanging the whole lot over the bannisters and shaking it until it roughly comes together in the right place. The final fixing happens when it is all spread out on the bed.
Having said all that I ditched the duvet a few years ago and now I use sheets and blankets! Not necessarily easier, but cooler as you can flap back a layer if you get too hot!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I have to say I cant stand ironing, but a good excuse of needing something to watch on TV, or a new DVD, to do it

I hope those pegs are colour coordinated

Dusting - best buy a feather duster .
Hoovering - Laminate floors so much quicker.
Now if only I could trade in the OH and the kids. That would really cut down on housework

ALL OF IT!!!, it is abit of a thankless task because it looks lovely for a day then when the lads and dog have been in the house for a couple of days it is back to square one again, love the house when it is sparkly and smells lovely, have learnt to put on blinkers to avoid looking at the mess when at school full time, always catch up on jobs during the half term hols as house gets a really good clean and looks fab ready for the next half term..

I hate ironing so I stopped doing it, the creases soon drop out after about 10 minutes.
