  • A missed opportunity?

I'm usually a big fan of concrete (I work in the industry, so it pays to), but surely filling these holes with plants/trees would have been a better idea...?

That's rough! Council fills golf course holes with CONCRETE to prevent people playing for free after lease ran out | Mail Online

    What would Vedder do?

Not really, trees would spread roots which would ruin the putting surface, the concrete plugs can be easily removed causing minimal damage.
Seems the idiot pensioners who want a free round have shot themselves in the foot

yups, it seems the idea is to relet the golf course as emhh a golf course. Bit stupid to plug the holes with concrete/cement wich is one of the worst offenders for co2 release in to the atmosphere. The proper thing to do would have been to cut holes off the greens and use the plugs removed to blank the holes in the greens. I perwsonally don't mind the pensioners having a free game of golf. It's good for them to get exercise.

I wonder how long it will be before holes appear adjacent to the concrete plugs........

Yes but it will be them that complain about the condition of the greens next spring having spent the winter pitching onto them, causing compaction & dead spots.

I wonder if that would constitute criminal damage ?

I think it would. Pensioners forget that just being one does not give you more entitlement than anyone else. I can say that as I am one.
