Maybe the only ones doing any gardening are the inactive members(says he sitting in front of the PC instead of getting work done)

It is a lot of members and there are people who are involved without being active ie read plenty but don't feel the need to post. There are however loads of people who are registered but haven't logged on for months / years after maybe only logging on once. Would be interested to see how many of the almost 4000 are actually active / involved members, still quite a few but nowhere near as many.

Maybe the mods and/or administrators could "weed out" the members who haven't visited the site for a long while? I have several e-mail accounts and get regular reminders when I haven't checked them for a while. I do think that if people are no longer visiting the site they should be removed from the member's list after maybe 6 months. And please note I said visiting the site, not posting. Lots of members visit and read without posting, and although I do wish they would post I think they have every right to visit and read without commenting if that is what they want to do.

Just checked the members list and there are six pages of members who haven't visited the site since January 2006. Surely it's time to "weed them out".

As this is a "free" site Does it get more cash from advertisers the more members we have?

From previous threads I think it's the number of 'hits'.

A year does sound a more reasonable time. Why is it necessary to weed them out anyway? R we short of space? or will it speed things up? Do we feel untidy? anyway wouldn't any posts also be deleted; thus stopping us refering back. Strikes me as a bit Stalinist to delete our history.

I think that getting 4ooo members is fabulous, even though lots dont post many do (eventually) come back and have a lok when the gardening season comes about. The great thing though is the formula we have here.

There are forums not worthy of mention who encourage any advertiser or trader to be a member and that is not what we want here.

Default Please don;t weed me off!

I know I haven't posted much for a while, but this still feels like home on the Web. I will spend more time here this year, promise, but would hate to think you might wipe me out
