Member's list - how about de-cluttering?

    Member's list - how about de-cluttering?

    I know the mods are very busy people, but I've just checked the member's list for last visits to the site, and there are loads who haven't visited since 2005. How about removing them? Would this speed the site up? - actually thinking about it if they're not visiting it probably wouldn't - but should they still be listed as members?
    Another query - several members on last visit list show as N/A - WHY, HOW???

    You have a point about decluttering the members list Rustylady.
    As for your N/A query - I think if you go into User CP and click Edit Options
    and choose Invisible Mode
    then you don't show up as being Online.

                  Whilst I would love to remove the fluff and fodder from the membership list unfortunately we mods cant access that function. It wont affect the speed of the site either way and by keeping the banned members on the list we can see, it gives us all sorts of info that comes in handy when cross referencing.

                    OK Dave, take your point, and totally agree with cross referencing banned members. However, couldn't Admin take out some of the "fluff"

                      I wish, we call for the admin cavallry occasionally and they do come,....................4 days later.

                        Maybe it is time - due to the growth of this site, that GYO Admin allow one or two (trained) Mods to have dustpan and brush access?

                          well i am sure they know what they are doing, someone who knows them might want to point out that there is a different authentication system available from the captcha one.
                          certain new bots can actually read the text on those.

                          the new one consists of a question and answer system, and whereas this can be bypassed by bots if the list is given to it by a human who has registered enough times to get most of the list, this is unlikely in the case of this site as it doesn't seem to be under personal attack, just random bot trawling.

                          this can cut spammers by up to 85%.
