  • Melted plastic on a ceramic hob!!

Great start to the day! I made myself a coffee and put the stock on to boil. Five minutes later I am dragged from the vine by a spitting noise coming from the kitchen. I had turned on the wrong plate on the hob and melted the milk carton

Anyone know the best way to get melted plastic off a hob? It smells terrible too! Stop laughing BEFORE you reply please

Fi the only way I can recommend is using the razor blade scraper thingy - but it is a bit harsh - you may need to hold your nose and burn it off! As you can tell, you are not the only one this has happened to!

use this as well as the razor! Google supplied the answer!

I did that with a flower pot recently!

Have you got one of those little scrapers for ceramic hobs? While it was still soft but starting to reform,i just scraped the most of it off and the rest came off pretty easily after turning the ring on again and wiping with a damp cloth.

I'm not joking - I googled 'melted plastic on ceramic hob' and that's what popped up - I think WD 40 will stop the razor from scratching the hob by providing a lubricant. And it is the second time I posted that thumbnail today which made me strangely pleased!! Little things...

Fi - you've got to let it get cold so that it will solidify before you try and get it off.

Ice would soon get it cold bit like removing chewing gum.
