    In 'The Mag.'

    I really enjoy walking around the allotment site and seeing what other plot holders are doing and growing. That got me wondering. I bet other grapes do the same. So wouldn't it be good to see what people are doing on other allotment sites. How about a monthly feature in GYO called something like; 'On Your Plot'. Each month a volunteer has a team from GYO visit their plot and through the mag shows us around. We could all then take a stroll around someone elses plot and pick up hints and tips about what they are growing and how they are growing it.

    I must admit, I wouldn't be ready to volunteer yet (only recently got the plot and am still getting it sorted ready for next season) but there must be loads of you with well established plots that would relish the chance to show it off and share it with the rest of us.

    What do you think. Any volunteers .

      Great idea! Our plots not quite up to it (yet), but I'm sure someone like Pigletwillies would make a fab story for the mag!

        Think it is a great idea, I don't qualify as don't have an allotment, but would love to take a virtual wander round some others

          I think this is an excellent idea - I don't think it should be confined to established lotties - many start-ups could make a good project to follow - say from bindweed and brambles through to feeding the family - perhaps a quartely snapshot of newbies and their progress with monthly visits to experienced holders. Different conditions etc from around the country would also make for good reading and reference.

          Even those of us who make do with our own gardens can learn something - that's what growing is all about.

          I still find it rather magical that a mighty plant or tree can grow from such a miserable looking thing as a seed - dried, wizened and often very small and ugly to boot - nature's very own miracles.

            I think it's a great idea too. Though I'm far too messy a gardener for mine to feature......perhaps I could appear in the section of how not to do it? My stuff grows, but the plot is definitely not 'Ideal Allotments' material.

              oh come on now guys!! If the mag pick this up and run with it it can't just be for the Hyacinth Buckets amongst you erm us - now can it!

                Great Idea maybe then some feedback on what could be done or grown in a paticular area that plotholder is struggling with or doing well with help by sight rather than trying to explain in words.

                    Fab idea, I would be more than happy for them to come to my plot....warts and all...

                    Once upon a time they put clips from the vine in the mag? i think- if so, why have they stopped? it would be lovely to see grapes replies, tips etc in print.

                    also, similar mag has chickens and bee sections, could we have same please?
                    even if its only bit taken from forum, there is the wine making section, the preserving section, so much good stuff on the vine and written by those who do it, have tried it, and live with it - so to speak!

                      Good idea, we did get to see some of Piglet's lottie featured in GYO a while ago & it would be nice to see other forum members' sites. One of the rival mags. has something similar with little features from allotments/veg/gardens from different parts of the country. Mind you we do get to see Paul's (Wagland) plot in the mag. which is always interesting.
