  • A lovely job for a cold day..

    ..not.
Had a huge delivery of bare root roses. Spent all day standing in an open, unheated potting shed stuffing them into pots. Do you know how many thorns 1500 rose bushes have? No, neither do I, but a lot of them went through my gloves
Last week it was shrubs and my fingers and arms are still smarting from the hollies. I prefer the roses.
On the other hand I now know lots more Latin names, and thanks to my Dutch workmate some new swearwords in a foriegn language
Owing to several layers of fleece I was toasty warm. In fact, too warm at one point. Layers were removed. But I'm glad that having had horses for years I have got the knack of keeping warm and dry in bad weather. It's standing me in good stead already. Bring on the rough stuff..but not more Holly please

I wonder how much rougher it's going to get Hilly? You sound very happy, so it must be worth it!
