  • Lost The Plot...

Anyone recall me mentioning the nightmare we have had with the guy who had our allotment before us? Wanting £200 for his shed etc.? By way of brief update, he is STILL being awful and refusing to move it, so Council now involved and giving him official notice. Anyway, whilst this was going on we tried to crack on with work, building three beautiful raised beds, laying mulch pathways, digging the ground over etc.

Anyhoo, just spoken to Council chap and it transpires that we were given the wrong allotment, and have to move plot. It was never ours in the first place... the allotment secretary showed me the wrong one that first day...

Could have avoided all the upset, now have to undo all our good works, and rebuild, but you know what? I'm RELIEVED! No more Mr Vile Shed, and we still have a lovely allotment that I've waited 5 years for! Tons of extra work ahead now, but I actually feel that a weight has been lifted!

Good then...although you've done work it is better to have a clean slate with no bad feelings.

At least you can lift the beds up, and take the pathways with you [hopefully] and get cracking.

Bit of a mixed blessing when you'd put work in already. But much better not to have to deal with Mr Greedy shed-man!!

Don't know whether to be thrilled for you that you no longer have to worry about Mr Grumpy Sheds...or gutted about the work you've already done!
I'd try & look on it htat we rarely get something right first time...so maybe look at what you'd done as practise for the real thing!Hope you can fairly easily move the beds etc!
Oh,and Good Luck with your new plot!

I think that's great news Rhona, at least you're well practiced at raised bed building now (every cloud has a silver lining).

Have the council given you anything for messing you about, like a years free rent. Good luck with moving plots hope you get it up and running soon. Serves Mr Nasty shed right for being greedy.

The allotments secretary want a boot up the backside then! At least you now have a Pain-in-the-butt free plot. I hope it's in good nick. Glad you aren't feeling down about it - I think you should get some compensation (rent free period) for the un-necessary work you've done.

Just think Rhona, you may have paid him his £200 when he asked for it!! Then you would have had to move his superduper!!!!!! shed to your new plot. You would have had all the work he didn't want when he refused to move it in the first place. Good luck with the new plot.

can you not get some sort of compensation for all the hard work and the beds etc....it seems wrong for mr vile shed to reap the rewards!!!! Make sure you take EVERYTHING you put on there babes.

Terrible that they got it mixed but happy u still have a lottie!
