  • Looking for my ultimate spice: Smoked flavour

In my spag bol I tend to use smokey bacon but is there a spice out there that will give me a smokey flavour, not looking for smoked so & so, just something that gives a strong smoked flavour. I have some smoked paprika which is nice but the smokeyness isn't strong enough and I'm not looking for any underlying flavour, just the smoked stuff for me .

Not sure that this is what you are after but you can buy liquid smoke and smoked Hickory powder, which I use to give a smoked flavour to bacon and ham when I am curing them. Can't find a link at the mo but try google

If you are interested I can send you a little to try to see if its right for your spag bol.

Thanks for the reply, that looks great. I don't need a sample from you (thanks any way) as it looks like the right stuff for me. Where can I get it from and how much does it cost?

        You need some Chipotles.

Sainsbury's used to stock them, but I am not sure they still do.

Coolchilie stock them. Chile Chipotle 40g

Check out the stockists/links page for who also stock them.

ps a little goes a long way as it is very strong. I store mine in an airtight tub or else the whole kitchen smells like a bbq!

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.
