  • The Longest Migraine?

I went to see the neurologist this morning and he has suggested that the creepy crawly feelings over my scalp, and the pains in my neck etc that I have been experiencing since knocking myself out in October 08 are due to migraine. He asked for a 'history', then if I had ever had migraine (yes, induced by strong coffee), had family the same problems (2 sisters, son and daughter), before telling me that he thought the 'physical stress' induced by the injury had caused migraine, which does have other symptoms to the well known headaches and flashing lights. I did have headaches to start with, not surprising following a blow to the head though.
I have another set of pills to take at bedtime now. (Side effects, sleepiness and weight gain Why can't at least one of the pills I have to swallow have a weight LOSS side effect)
When I got home, I 'googled', and found there is such a thing as a silent migraine, with symptoms similar to those I have, but lasting 9 months????
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Cripes; I've had a headache since my fall down a spiral staircase in Sept 2005......smashed elbow up and smashed head on wooden floor.......and have had a headache to some extent.....ever since. The money I've spent on painkillers since doesn't bear thinking about......sometimes it is bearable but sometimes it really is not.

I thought I'd got rid of it when I took out my hard contact lenses and had laser surgery on my eyes last year - but it was a reduction in level only.

Wow! Can a silent migraine be treated or is it one of those 'conservative management' things like my ripped ligaments (I don't get an op - I'm not a famous footballer!)

I get the occasional migraine bt nothing on this scale!

You have my sympathy - I'll try and type quietly.
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

I never had a headache in my life until I had Meningitis. After that, I used to get stress-induced Migraines, but never when working outdoors, only when office based. The worst one was when I was driving and gradually developed 'pins and needles' over the whole left side of my body - it started in my thumb! It went after a few minutes.

I hardly ever get them now, the occasion 'flashing lights' when I first wake up, so I turn over and go back to sleep!

My sympathy to you all, and thanks too as I realise just how lucky I am to be as healthy as I am. Sunflower- have you had you numb 'bits' checked out? sounds terrifying.
