  • A little Thank You

I started this in response to the Thank You thread posted by Wellie, but was planning a thread of my own anyway, so started a new one!

I have no idea where I get it from. None of my family grow anything except weeds! I've just always loved wildlife and the natural world and so always wanted a cottage garden. My Mum thinks the food bit has skipped a generation, as my Grandad was apparently a fantastic cook. I never met him, though

I started by planting an old spud when I was 8, into a weedy container at the front of our 2 up-2 down house! I've stolen plots from other people's gardens, planted in containers when I didn't have a garden and finally got my very own garden with the house! Unfortunately I need to develop discipline.

To be honest, this year it's been this forum that's spurred me on big time. Especially after the high winds and slugs destroyed much of my early efforts, I was often feeling despondent and would have given up if it wasn't for the encouragement and advice/knowledge I've gained here! I'm so glad I stumbled on this forum, so a huge Thank You from me!

The Vine is a great place Sluglobber. I'm sure we all help and inspire each other. It keeps me going in enthusiasm and inspiration. And such great Grapes. It's like having so many gardening friends. Thahk you to everybody.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

It is great isn't Sluglobber, if you're stuck you can often find an answer on here & if the weather's so awful that you can't do any gardening you can come on hee for a chat or a laugh. Keep up the good work, I come from a fairly 'non-gardening' family too although my dad did go through spells of growing runner beans & other veg. when I was little & I used to help him so it must have rubbed off somewhere!
Into every life a little rain must fall.

Well, I came back today and most of the threads on 'General Chat' are negative!! C'mon everybody! It'll soon be weekend again!

Squashysu, the people at work start to glaze over, now. I only started this job in March, so they assume I've always known the stuff I do. Little do they know it's all shamelessly regurgitated from this site!!
