  • Linda Bellingham is John Sargeant

Really enjoyed the first edition of Strictly Come Dancing. Those contestants are so brave and for a first show so much better than I would have expected.

    More tomorrow night.

I really liked the new show and I liked the fact that contestants have 2 opportunities to showcase their abilities. I only wish they started the eliminations in the next round and gave everyone a longer time to get used to dancing in the spotlight live, as far it is possible to do so! Len said that some people are quick bloomers and others are slower and not eliminating too early on would help.

I thought Miss Dixon came across as floundering a touch and some of her comments were a little lame - especially if she was the first judge to comment on a performance.
(I was not a massive fan of Arlene either but her credentials for judging were way stronger).

I watched this last night for the first time ever (a captive audience!) and remembered Come Dancing very many years ago.
This I find is more like a lively ballet than ball-room dancing and very well done. What talent and what stamina even in the ones who didn't do very well. I may just watch it again!!

Strictly has never been about the best dancers (well, not until the later stages anyway) but about favourites.

Having been learning to dance myself for about 3 years, I have such admiration for these celebs - so much to learn in such a short time.

However, isn't it time Brucie got his pension? And could we shoot the person who writes his 'jokes'?
