  • The 'Lets lose a few pounds for 2009' thread

    Ok. I'll start.

I would like to lose a stone by Easter.

I'm on Slimming World, and a vege...so all Green days.

I've been quite good thus far, keeping to the restrictions. But I have a love of chocolate and cheese.

    Today's menu;
    b - weetabix and milk
l - leftover quorn and chick pea curry and rice
d - jacket spud with either leek and cheese filling and salad or sweetcorn and cheese and salad.

How do we do this together.

l - 2 slices of home-made bread toast and a soft boiled egg
d - probably a veg curry - not made me mind up.

MUST NOT EAT UP LEFTOVERS...Mmmm sweeeet!

I'm going to make an attempt to join in, but I know from past experience that I have to exercise too, or I just don't stick to it. Couple of weeks, and hopefully I'll be getting physio

I'm not putting what I've had today, suffice to say it explains why I might have gained some weight...

I am in, want to lose 10lbs by Easter. That's 13 weeks away.

I already follow weight watchers plan, but have been rather lax lately.
Will give you this weeks weigh in on thurs when I've been to class.

I have to snack, that's my downfall.......

Not sure what I weigh, but I'd like to reduce my waist a bit.

Having been told that my cholesterol is quite high, so I've cut back on ales, butter, and other fatty foodstuffs. Need to up my exercise - but now my back's getting ever so slightly, that should be easier.

              Todays menu:

              Breakfast
              Fruit (melon, blueberries, pineapple)
Toasted muffin (with a glance of Marmite)

              Lunch
2 Bagels - sliced roast beef and fruit coleslaw
Handful of seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, hemp and sesame)

              Afternoon snack
              Grapefruit
              More seeds

              Dinner
Chicken wrapped in Parma ham, stuffed with mozerella and toms, with some form of pasta.

Lol! I'd like to join in too, but I think its the red wine I drink, and how much I eat! Since cutting down towards the end of last year I've lost about a stone, gonna keep both to reasonable limits now christmas & birthday have been and gone!

                Brekky
46g shreddies & skimmed milk, plus tsp sugar, a glass of OJ.

                Lunch
                last night's veggie 'carbonara tagiatelle'

                Dinner
Veggie chilli & rice or veggie bolognese & pasta (with a bit of cheese!)

During the day tea with skimmed milk & sugar.

Think I'm gonna have to have a snack of some 'ryvita' and homemade jam...

Oh did I forget to mention 3 glasses of red wine in the evening!

Okay I'm in. Seriously need to loose some weight. HeyWayne what's a waist - I lost mine a while back

Breakfast (always the same) - porridge with handful of sultanas or blueberries or rasps. Lots of coffee.
                  Lunch - Macaroni Cheese.
Dinner - Baked potato and veggie bolognese (sp?) (I like lots and lots of veg in my bol)

My downfall is anything sweet. I hang my head in shame to admit on my way back from work I walked by Thorntons - 4 bars of choccie for £2.50 Haven't eaten them but this will be my quota for the week - honest After this week - no more treats - no biccies, cake or chocolate and I promise to confess if I fail. I don't really do diets - it's the treats that get me.

I don't have sugar in my tea or coffee, only milk in my coffee (decaf). OJ with dinner every night.

Jackie, I think you can buy a plate which has the correct portions printed on it. Sorry, no idea where you get it from. Alternatively do you have smaller dinner plates you can use?

I could do to lose a few pounds too, but until I can get out more to the lottie, I don't think it'll "happen" for me. Basically I'm lazy, don't like doing exercises but I do like working in the garden and on the allotment and doing DIY.
Today I've had 2 small slices of toast with Utterly Butterly (that's what was in the fridge), a peanut butter sandwich for lunch, and having cold meat with home-made chips, peas and sweetcorn for dinner. In between I'll have an orange and maybe a couple of ryvita's during the evening. I do drink lots of sweetened tea, so I probably have about 5 teaspoons of sugar during the day and I have a mug of Malted Milk drink or Horlicks at bedtime.

Exercise today - I've been sawing, hammering, screwing, lifting, bending, carrying to make and fit another external nest-box on the coop. I've also cleaned out the coop and carried a 25kg bale of Easi-bed nearer to the coop to save going backwards and forwards. Oh yes, been up since 4.30 as well 'cuz I couldn't sleep.
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

Well lots of us seem to eat healthy things, I can't see where the extra weight is coming from?

@jackie j - portion sizes (before cooking) are often printed on the pkt (ie for pasta or rice), we were surprised when we compared the weight of pasta we were eating and the size of a 'correct' portion! That made losing some weight easy to begin with, although the 'portion control' was done gradually to begin with!

Yep I'm planning to lose about 2 stone by summer - 15.5 to 13.5 ideally. Main thing is cutting down on portion size as its not the food I eat just the volume. Also going to the gym where I'm targetting 7:00 for 2000m on the row machine... c'mon!!!

I'm no longer conning myself that working at the plot makes up for no exercise...(for me anyway)
