Leaky Hose

Genius! Will have to mention it to the hubby but would have to be double the size for our lottie at least, not sure that he will like the idea as it involves more work!

I collected loads of hose when I first got my lottie for the very same reason, but found the water pressure to be a little low when everyone is trying to water at the same time. Worried that it would be a bit selfish of me, as I felt I'd probably have the hose on for longer than normal. Also I have a bed system so thought I need to buy too many connectors, if each bed needed one?

I'd be interested to hear how you get on and if you get any complaints from fellow allotmentee's who are waiting to connect to the tap.

We don't water at the lottie except for first transplanting and if there is a major dry period. Because we don't have any water.

I tried this with a longer length a found out about the water pressure the hard way Think I might try cutting it down. It's still in the shed somewhere.

Just cut it down and make several lengths like I am going to. Use 1 at a time and it will save you having the move the pipe every time.

I have a similar system in my garden my hanging baskets and troughs are all watered by the holes drilled in a hose and the pipe is kept in place with plumbing pipe clips, i bought some cheap seap hoses 1.99 each from a pound shop and a 4 way junction £2.99


each conector has a separate tap so with a bit of trial and error restricting some of the pressure on some and unrestricting others, all The pipes pressure is equalised so even at low pressure all plants are watered at the same rate or if something (like my squashes) require more watering you can taylor the rates accordingly, the whole system cost less than £15.00 even if the pressure was go low I could water the garden each section at a time by only turning each tape on in turn.

the system was initially installed to water my tomato hanging baskets and wall troughs but was extended to the whole back garden, now when I having a bad time like I am at the moment I only have to ask OH to turn on one tap and leave it instead of asking her to water, and as shes not into gardening she really does not appreciate watering

i just went down the pound shop and bought some 10 metre ones with connectors and leaky hose ... for a pound

although i dunno why i bothered, havent watered anything all year except the stuff in the tunnel
