  • Laws of Blackberrying

Why did God decide that Blackberries need nettles as bedfellows?
Why do we HAVE TO pick blackberries in shorts?
Why are all the best looking berries where we cannot reach them?
Why do we decide that by standing on nettles we'll reach said berries?
Why do we tangle ourselves in bramble thorns to avoid said nettles but get hair/bits of skin caught in thorns which are even more painful than nettles?
Why do we think that if we are stung a few hundred times over the last week do we build up an immunity to nettle stings? - NOT

    Just wondering............

One of the most useful pieces of equipment we ever used was Dad's walking stick. You could hook the tall branches down so you could reach the lovely big berries at the top. Still got stung though, and once slipped into a ditch.

I take my old school hockey stick with me - it is great for whacking nettles out of the way and hooking down the branches that are a wee bit out of reach
