Oh blimey. I was just reading extracts from his new book. My father loved his programmes and when I was a kid and watched him cooking, with his glass of wine, I just KNEW he was secretly pretending to be Floyd. Sad news.

Loved his food, great to watch him wandering around, half drunk and rustling up masterpieces all over Europe.

          Sad.

Just seen it on BBC frontpage. Apparently he had cancer too.

Saw him on Keith meets Keith last night - rather fitting he should leave us on a day he was broadcasting. Also on a day when the last of Levi Roots was showing. It is just possible that Levi may well make a fitting successor to Keith - for me at least - with his larger than life character.

Whenever we've mentioned cooks/books here you may remember he's my all-time fave cook and writer. A one-off character who will be sorely missed by me and many others.

At times tempestuous with his film crew - but never had to resort to the expletives of Ramsay and co to get his point across on camera - although he was on top form in the docu!

A clear lover of food, wine and travel. Delivered food how I like it - straight on a plate, none of this fancy stuff piled into towers with smears of heaven knows what as embellishment, and plenty of it.

RIP dear 'chum'. Go cook up a storm in heaven and crack open a few bottles of red - one of which will be consumed by son and me tonight here on earth!

Very sad, he was an absolute genius with a spoon in one hand and a glass in the other. And the way he "directed" his camerman was hilarious!

I used to be late for nights out with the girls as couldn't turn the tv off when he was on!
A very sad day - what a character.
I saw some of the docu last night and it was very funny. I am sure it will be repeated soon.

'look at the food you silly man and not me' classic!

                            A true character, RIP

There's an Irish saying which says - We will not see his like again.

                              Sorely missed

Very sad - I caught a bit of the "Keith on Keith" and was going to watch the rest on the More4 thingy today.

Everything said about him is true, but for me he had the balls (scuse lang) to live how he wanted, and take the consequenses.

Those people are rare, and he gave generously with his knowledge, and said when he didn't like something or someone.

He did make a difference, so Cheers Keith - hope it's "on tap" up there for you mate!
