Default Just a thought?

Hi All,

Maybe me, but, seems that since putting my controversial UFO thread on here with 1000+ views that I feel I am being ignored. Maybe it's me, I don't know? Seriously thinking about removing my profile from here, what a shame really, I only gave my opinions, which is a daily occurence on here. Your replies say it all really.

Sorry - what ufo thread? - I haven't seen it yet - has it been deleted?

I love that kind of stuff - but why is it that those who are dead keen on the possibility of ufo's etc are the last ones to report any sightings?

And, pardon me - why was it controversial?

I'm sure that's not the case Mrsc2b. There are often quite heated discussions in the 'general' section of this site and most of us are able to agree to differ where necessary.

Sure, some people think believing in aliens is odd, but there are also plenty who think it's odd to be a veggie, believe in god, use insecticides, keep unusual pets or whatever.

In my opinion there were a few unnecessarily aggressive critics in your thread. That's their problem though, not yours. The thing is, it's very easy to take things personally when you really shouldn't. Stick around, we'll miss you if you go!

I don't think it was particularly controversial. I, For one, thought it lacked any proof. I remember you being irritated by some who thought it was rubbish. but there we are that's the nature of debate at no time did anyone attack you personally. I thank you for an entertaining thread, respect you for being an active member of the forum with a valid contribution and would be sad if you left. Though I will not massage your ego

Please don't be paranoid...we all love you very much. I tired of the last thread and to be fair have not seen any posts by you of late...I'm sure If I had iI might have replied...as long as I don't have to talk about aliens again that is.

Hey MrsC2B, I thought your thread was really interesting.

If the universe is infinite, then it would make sense for life to have evolved on other planets. We now know, for example, that life has evolved in all sorts of very hostile conditions (such as in boiling or freezing water) where we previously didn't think it possible.

It's great that you are open minded and ready to ask questions, I think 99% of the Grapes on here would agree!

OK - I've read the original thread etc - I think you might guess from my chosen name and avatar I'm a fan of sci-fi.

However it is not it is not just a love of the fiction side but also a fascination of the 'possibility' of other peeps out there. Not necessarily as we recognise them (or should that be 'it'?) and should that even be carbon-based?

I replied on a similar thread that the only proviso I would have - should that 'friendly' little green man appear - is that I should be able to take with me my son (who'd be only too willing!, pets and a supply of seeds to populate another new planet/world if given the chance - free from strife and conflict if at all possible.

Call me crazy - and I'm sure many do! - but this is no more fantastic than some unconditional belief in some earthly religion?

i didn't see it - and whatever you believe, you can't be any more insane than i am
i feel ignored sometimes too - sometimes there are people with much more time than i have who seem to get very popular on forums - but i don't let it worry me too much - i just sit in the corner, on my own ..... sigh ..... care to join me in the lonely corner?

Get away with ya mrsc2b! We all have our own beliefs that's why we enjoy living in a democracy!
It would be a boring old world if everyone believed the same!
I personally think you have a heck of a lot to add to this forum and would hate to see you leave.
In gardening terms , who's to say that traditional gardening isn't as good as bed systems, that polytunnels aren't as good as green houses.
As with everything else, there's advocates for all things and each individual has a right to there own beliefs..................I'm starting to ramble now, it must be the cider!, I think I've made my point though

Hello MRsC2B and FarmerGiles. I didn't see any of the UFO thread but I'm sure nobody is being deliberately ignored. Sometimes we read a post , find it interesting, but don't have anything to say in reply. Isn't life like that ? Please don't leave us. We will miss you if you go.

Hey.....

.....I, as everyone does, have my own personal views on 'stuff' and 'things'.

One thing I have noticed on these boards, is that firstly, posts and members have significantly increased of recent times.

You have to remember the relevance of these boards.

People are here to ask the more knowledgeable/experienced members for their help/advice or just to share their experiences in this chosen field.

What you have to say is of major importance to someone, somewhere at any given time.....always, just because you didn't get the response expected or predicted doesn't mean it wasn't important, it's just that the audience are so preoccupied by other stuff at that time that they bypass the stuff that is not in their immediate mind.

Seed potatoes, how to plant, what to plant, when to plant, compost, flowers and frost are headliners here, it only takes a couple of posts to put yours to the bottom of the pile, that is not to say that it is not important, it is just a more controversial and difficult thread to reply to in this environment (albeit online).

I doubt that anyone would wish to see you delete your profile, you have made a vauable contribution to the message boards.....please continue!

MrsB x

Now that's just unkind...if you were an alien thinking of visiting you might be put off by a comment like that.

....and by the way I'm not that sure he was even elected.

I seem to remember that a few months ago we had a discussion here about 'alternative' religious beliefs which wandered into women's roles in religion, Gaia etc etc. It was great and so interesting and all related to saving the planet etc.

I didn't read the thread on UFOs because it didn't ring my bell at the time but I don't think anybody would be ignoring anybody because they hold views which differ.

Ignoring people because they talk bollox, perhaps, but again, that's personal choice and the democratic principle.

As for George W being an alien .............

I get ignored by the voices in my head - now that's a head funk!

Seriously though (yes, I can be), stay exactly where you are!

From time to time I feel as though my presence here is tolerated by some due to my somewhat flippant nature and lack of gardening know how, some have let me know otherwise. Not being Geoff Hamilton, or Monty Don does not mean that I have nothing to offer this little online community we have, and the exact same can be said of you lady!

Personally I'm not one for conflict and will often deflect by trying to be humourous - which works on occasion. Seldom will I be drawn into a heated debate, but more often that not will walk away when people start to get irate. Life's too short in my onion.

If you do decide to leave this place you will be sorely missed, but make sure you stay in contact via Bookface!
