Looks pretty busy indeed! I was going to ask you but were there any Ratte potatoes? It's a bit long way to go for me but who knows next year I might try . Besides, I managed to get most of my potatoes from Wilko and Sainsbury .

Crikey, it was a real bun fight wasn't it! I got there at a few minutes to 10am, and there were sooooo many people in the queue waiting for the doors to open (and it was v v cold, brrrrr) and then everyone made for the spuds at the same time! Great that it's getting so much support.

I'd already ordered some sarpo tatties from T&M, as I'd lost most of my late spuds to blight last year, but couldn't resist a couple of each of the following:

Foremost and Lady Christl (thanks to PW's recommendations in the Gold Standard thread)
British Queen
Red Duke of York
Anya
Maris Peer
Lady Balfour
Witch Hill
plus a dozen Charlotte (always grow these, and think they are fab).
Wanted to get some Rosevaal as they grew so well last year, but no sign of any boxes of them, even though they were on the Potato Day list... Never mind, plenty to be going on with methinks.

It certainly was, Janie!

So I have come away with:

First Early: Lady Christl and Orla
Second Early: Edzell Blue(floury) and Charlotte (waxy/salad)
Mains: Pentland Dell (floury) and Picasso (waxy)

I spent £6 to get in (bit of a swiz as it was too cold to have a good look round), and about £14 on the potatoes. That's about double what I paid last year, but I think these are good choices for taste and variety (hopefully!) as opposed to buying the wilko cheapest.

The Edzell Blue are tasty in mash. We've grown them every (!) year since we got the plot.

I didn't see any Ratte.
I did see Roseval, however the Sarpo had all gone (I heard of just 1 sack, but a thread elsewhere said that they found a couple more in the afternoon).
