        The post-holder will be responsible for a range of programmes and activities for young people related to sustainable food growing, food waste, energy saving, waste reduction, cycling and climate change education, and the development of a Grow Green youth board. There will be a strong element of capacity building of young people.

          Position requires:

          (i) organic gardening, knowledge of trees & shrubs, care of land

            The NHS Community Gardens project is an NHS Lothian initiative with a mission to make opportunities for good food and healthy lifestyles available to the local communities in which NHS Lothian hospitals are based. The gardens have a particular focus on welcoming people who are experiencing mental or physical health problems, disadvantage, isolation or poverty

            Our programme outcomes are:

            improving health and well-being
            building community
            providing routes to employment
            improving awareness around environmental practice
            improving social understanding and community integration

            The Midlothian Community Gardens are managed by Edinburgh Cyrenians at the behest of Dr. Charles Winstanley, chair of NHS Lothian, who initiated this project in 2010. Cyrenians is an independent charity that has operated with success since 1968. We prevent and alleviate poverty and homelessness and work for a Scotland that makes room for all.

            Salary: £14/hr

            Status: Part-time, sessional, three days/week

              Unique opportunity to develop and manage a model organic farm in Maharashtra, India. Saha Astitva needs an enthusiastic, experienced self-starter to help manage our four acre project, using natural farming methods inspired by vedic techniques, permaculture, Bhaskar Save and Fukuoka. An integral part of the work will be integrating with the tribal farm staff who we are working together with.
              The position is available as an internship or, if you have suitable experience, as a modestly salaried position. A minimum four month stay but the period is negotiable thereafter. You need some field experience and/or training in natural farming and to be willing to live in rustic accommodation on the farm.
              This is a rare chance to experience the beauty and colour of rural India (just 60km from Mumbai) and to contribute to one of India’s leading projects in creating sustainable livelihoods through organic farming.

                This is great! Im on the look out for something growing/community based and its useful to just see job desriptions and that there are initiatives ouit there....little in leeds Im afraid Keep em coming though, Ill defo post if I see anything!

                        Permaculture designer wanted - Clapham, - Modest fee

                        Designer needed, South London
                        We are looking to start a permaculture garden in our Garden in Clapham - London.
                        The space is 12 metres long and 4.5 metres wide. We are complete novices but keen to learn and would like to have somebody with some knowledge to come round and help us to get started. We would be willing to pay a modest fee for this service.

                              Wow that Youth worker/gardener job doesn't want much does it? Experience in youth work/climate change/gardening.
                              I almost feel like coming for a visit and staying in that converted barn - 14 hours a week help with an older person and gardening....right up my alley! Ali
