  • Jeremy Vine Show Radio 2

If anyone has been following the story about the cat that strayed into the wrong garden and got eaten by a snake, they are doing a slot about it on the Jeremy Vine show.

Yes, I have heard the story, but I am being extremely diplomatic by not discussing it on here

Sorry Piskie, Im a smiley face kinda person and I havent said one way or another how I feel about what happened and I wont, but I will say I love cats and was devasted when some moron ran my kitten over. However, back to the subject, I just know some comments have been made on here and people might have been interested in what was discussed on the show. Im also a huge fan of Jeremy Vine... hence the smiley face.

me too - he really does cover some excellent subjects
me too - smiley face person

I am so sorry to hear about your kitten, heart-breaking

Actually, whilst I am know around these 'ere parts for being a total kitten/cat worshipper, I am also (I think) known for having black humour - and whilst the story on JV today made me cry when the cat owner was describing the sounds (!!!!) I do have to admit to having a cartoon image in my head of a snake with a cat shaped belly

As an owner of both a cat and a snake I will confess I had not heard of the story.
Years ago when Puss was a kitten we (or rather he) had an 8ft Boa, himself went to work and asked me to feed Snakey. I duly dangled the rat, and noticed Puss trying to stick his head in the viv to see what mummy was doing. When Snakey took the rat I had to double check that he hadn't grabbed the cat, it was that close. Cat never got that close to the viv again.
I would have been heartbroken if I had lost my cat.
Going to google the story to see what its about (besides the obvious)

OMG!!!!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/g...re/8191355.stm if this is the right story, what in Gods name was someone doing keeping a Burmese Python!!! They are really dangerous, the biggest type of python I think. Found some really nasty stories about them on the net when we were trying to identify Fluff (the current snake - a harmless corn snake BTW)

                  About Burmese pythons: http://www.anapsid.org/burm.html

That link was very interesting and left me thinking... who in their right mind would want a huge massive snake free roaming in the house... ewwwww no no no no no! Not my cup of tea at all!

When our Boa reached 10ft, it constricted my arm and the strength of one that size is immense. Its vivarium took up half of our living room. In the end we were lucky that we found a reptile specialist willing to give it a home, but will never keep a large snake again - let alone one that reaches the dimensions of a Burmese. Fluff will reach 6ft max and will be no thicker than my forearm. Current measurement is 18"

I really do like snakes* - my pal has seven, yep 7 .....although they are not allowed out into the garden without strict supervision. The biggest is called Lucy, I'm trying to visualise her being told 'put kittie down now please Lucy'

*I was photographed with all seven around me, think Medusa here some of these girls were (are) three times my height/length!!
