  • Jamie Oliver: An Apology.

I was rather cynical about JO's new 'Ministry of Food' even though I hadn't seen it (I just don't watch celebrity chefs) I thought that there was so much more to it than just learning someone how to cook; you have to teach them about nutrition, how to shop, how to budget. Not to mention overcoming at least a couple of generations worth of poor eating habits. Anyway, deciding it probably wasn't a good idea to criticize something I hadn't actually seen I bit the bullet and watched it last night and I have to say I was impressed. OK, so there's still more to it than just learning how to follow a recipe, but unless someone is able to do that very basic thing then they're never going to pick up the rest. You have to start somewhere and I think he's doing that. So, sorry, Jamie. I wish you the best of luck.
Now, if we could just get a T.V. gardener to come on board and show people how to grow basic fruit and veg without too much outlay..........
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I have to say, I did get a little watery eyed when that lady got the place at college - her excitement was amazing.

Good on yer Jamie - you're a legend!

Ive also watched this from the beginning and dont think Jamie deserves the flack he's had.

Found it very inspirational and it has even got my 13 year old daughter wanting to get the book and have a go herself so that in itself is brill.

It was so unfair the weather caused so much disruption, but the bit where he got the place in college for that lady was so special.

She really felt she was worth something when she did the demo's to the councillors and now she really has got a chance to become a proper chef - it's been worth watching just for that - I wish her all the luck in the world, make your kids proud girl and Jamie, well I've always adored him so no more to say there.

I was a bit sceptical at the breginning too but I was pleased that in the end he managed to get a fair number of people involved & got the support of the council & it was lovely that he helped Natasha to get a place at catering college as she'd tried so hard for him!
