  • I've got a little shop - sort of!

Woohoo, one of my "things I'd like to do if I had the time and money" has sort of happened

Long story, but briefly I was contacted by a couple who were starting up a Farmers Market asking if I'd have a stall there selling my cakes and bread (apparently I'd been recommended by someone else). I agreed and started last October. Then this couple took over the management of Slaters Shopping Village and have changed the old cafeteria into an "Edwardian style" Tea Room and Food Emporium. This is where I come in - I was offered a part of the Emporium as a Bakery and of course I've jumped at the opportunity, after all, if I didn't then I'd always wonder would it have worked. Now, from Monday to Thursday my friend and I are baking like crazy at home and selling our produce on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I have to bake more fresh stuff at home on Friday and Saturday evenings, but what the heck - there's not that much on telly those nights and I do have a lot of eggs to use up.

So, if any of you live near Slaters Shopping Village (on the A51 not too far from Nantwich, towards Stone) pop in and have a Ritz-style afternoon tea in the Village Tea Room, and come to Handmayde Bakes for some bread or a cake to take home (I'll give you 10% discount if you tell me who you are )

Good on you Maureen, well done! Would definitely pop in if passing. Will have to google map and see if you are on my route to my sister's in a couple of weeks

You are! If I head to Cumbria via M6 instead of A1. All will depend on traffic on day of travel I guess

Well done you! Sounds as if you are working very hard but it's worth it when it is for yourself. Good luck for continued success.
