  • It's official. Eggs are good for you !!

    Well,who'd have thought it.

Another food scare has been officially discredited and turned on its head.

Instead of Eggs being bad for us they are now considered to be a good food.

I wish all these scaremongering health officials would just keep quiet in future and have a look at what the majority of 90+ year old folk have eaten most of their lives before deciding on our behalfs what is supposedly bad for us.

The vast majority of the longest lived folk have probably eaten loads of Butter, full fat milk and Eggs on a daily basis.

My neighbour is 95 and has had 2 boiled eggs, toast and Butter every morning for the last 60 years,so I don't suppose it's news to him.
Please have a look at my Veg Growing Diary.

    Thanks.

    Hi
Having hens I get through a lot of eggs, I eat two a day and with cooking my egg consumption is at least 20 a week.
Last year had my chloresterol tested and it was normal (whatever that is), small smirk when I got the results back, didn't tell the Doctor about my egg consumption as at that time would have got a lecture.
    Just goes to show.

Have a look what these older folks were eating for the most of their life.I could bet that the majority would be non-processed food or processed slightly.
Everything is fat-free,even cream cheese or yoghurts. The milk is being pasteurised so there's no sour milk from which you would make your own cheese.
One of my favourites when I used to go to the countryside was the milk from the farmer,no pasteurised, just well chilled.

        Hi Sue

We had a bi annual health check at work to my horror this year we had cholesterol checks- I muttered to the man doing the test how many eggs should one eat (rubbish question but I was under pressure) 3 he replied hmmm not bad I thought I only eat around two a day…Three a week a week he said!! Well how delighted to find my cholesterol was 3.9!!!! I divulged my egg secret and the ½ bottle of wine a night at that point!!
        Regards
        Pat

I've never confessed to the doctor that I have a cooked breakfast instead of cereal. Grilled mushrooms, tomatoes, poached or scrambled egg, and occasionally 1 rasher of grilled bacon or a piece of toast. If I have cereal, I am starving and light headed by 10.30am, the cooked brekkie lasts me until lunchtime at 1pm, and gets veg in as well .
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Well I could start ranting about what the 'so called media' tells us to eat, but I won't lol! I think people know what is good and bad for them and I don't take on board what the news ppl say. As ppl have quite rightly pointed out, the ppl who eat 2 eggs (mmmmmm with toasted soliders dripping in butter) ain't doing bad in my opinion! Yum, Yum, nothing better in my opinion!

I must have been out when that food scare was on.

Don't eat many eggs at this time of year (my freebie sources tend to stop laying!), but too much of ANYTHING is bad for you surely? I mean, you can die of too much water!

Quite fancy a boiled egg, now. With runny yolk and soldiers. Mmmmmmmmmm...

Yeah, don't eat this, don't eat that,blah,blah,blah...Seems like there's nothing left to eat that is good for you.I'm not a big fan of cereals, just like BarleySugar,1 tost will keep me going longer than a bowl of cereals.
I love fried food, although I don't eat it everyday.I can't imagine life without battered haddock or pork loins in breadcrumbs(both fried of course).
Off to get some boiled eggs(with 2 tosts dripping with butter)
