  • It's a Challenging Year

    Hi all.
After months of problems with my shoulder, I was finally fit enough to return to work in February, albeit to a newly created desk role.
I've been told it will be another 18 months to two years before I'm fully recovered though, but was happy to be back at work.
Then an old acquaintance that I first met while living in Nigeria over 30 years ago came to visit - Malaria! What's even worse is that it started the day after the electricians and window fitters started work replacing all the windows and doing a full re-wire, so my ever suffering OH had to deal with all the upheaval alone while I was safely laid up in hospital.
While I've been laid up, all my seedlings have died and I'm having to start again from scratch, so I'm probably going to end up buying quite a few plants this year, but at least the weathers warming up and I can get out on the lotty again.
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?
    Pumpkin pi.

What a spell of bad luck, poor you!

Plenty of time for everything to catch up - it's been quite cold through March, so I think a lot of us are behind right now. Lots of sowing for everyone

Sorry to read you've been ill Jon it couldn't have come at a worse time for you and your OH. Like Thelma says you should have plenty of time to sow stuff and still get good results.

So sorry Jon, maybe go to a few carboot sales and there might be some other gardeners selling off their surplus, cheaper than the big boys.

So sorry to read you've had a horrible start to the year. Hopefully things are looking up for you now.

I haven't started sowing any seeds yet but it's not too late according to my seed packets anyway. There's plenty of time still. And if it really goes wrong, there's always ready grown plug plants
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Really sorry to hear youve been so poorly. Take care of yourself first, there is still plenty of time for sowing and growing.

And your hands begin to harden.

These things really do come to try us ...

It's been a bit chilly up to yet, so still bags of time to sow plenty of stuff! And anyway, there's always next season ....

Sorry you've been having a rough time. Malaria isn't fun. Other half has had it. I know there's time for you to re.sow many of your seeds again, but that doesn't help with the frustration.
Take it easy. Look after your self.
