  • It'll only take 5 minutes................

    A daily challenge, that anyone can set!

    A little project in the garden that can be done in 5 minutes. Maybe something you've been meaning to do for ages but forget. Perhaps we can jog each other's memories and join in?

    Here's my 5 minute job of the day:-
    Take rosemary cuttings (young growth about finger length);
    Strip off the leaves on the bottom half
    Plonk in a glass of water
    Sit back and wait for the roots to grow

    This is the start of a rosemary "hedge" around a bed

    UPDATE - 30 cuttings in a glass of water and a tub of rosemary leaves to use for cooking! Bonus

    Sow just a pinch of Spring onion seeds in a pot every couple of weeks then you'll never run out of them all season.

        I started my rosemary cutting off about 2 weeks ago - they look very cute sitting in their little green french lager bottles (in water not lager).
        5 minute job done today was to roll out suppresant plastic on the planned route of a new pathway. Same will need to be done for final path in about 8 days time when I can next get to the plot.

          I'll join in with this thread, once I get back from the UK.
          I've lots of little 'jobs' needing doing , but pushed aside by more pressing ones.
          It'll do me good to focus
          Nice thread idea!VC

                Now my neighbour has finished putting up his new fence (and a good job he's made of it for a librarian) and I can have my spade back, I'll dig the encroaching earth off my patio and then I can sit on it without feeling guilty. The patio not the earth.

                The spade thing...... He started to dig a hole, put his spade in the ground, pushed it down with his foot, as you do, pulled back and...it snapped. I handed him mine but I've now been without it for over a week and there are jobs I need it for.

                            Trouble is I go out to do a five minute job and stay out for hours - very.productive but too much for my aching bones next day
