There is a place round here where they are really into recycling, and used an old WC as a planter....

I'm toying with turning an old daysack with broken zips into a planter, hanging it from a fence with the straps. Small pocket on the front too.

There was one here too, with strawberries in. Never could bring myself to eat them!

Must speak to DD's bf...he works in a charity shop on Saturday mornings. That'll be just the place for a chest of drawers -not plasticky stuff, but proper wood - and plant my alpine strawberries in them!

                Ha! Genius!

Wouldn't use one for edibles, but flowers, yes!

How's this for a bit of creativity.......have yet to work out how to get to the plants & how to water but clever none the less. It would be better at ground level.....

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek, and a solid wall at that! damp house recipe there!

OH says 'ingeneous, but not a good idea'. I think the plants get watered by any rain that comes down from the gutter, and I suppose in a drought you would (when no-one's looking) put the hose from the bathroom tap to the gutter above.
