  • An Interesting Day - Needlework

Hummmm... Had a few days off so I thought I'd do a little "mending". Well really, I just got fed up with the old fabric

I recovered my office chairs and meeting room seats. Went for a rawhide effect fabric in black.

Quite simple really. Ripped old ones off. Drew round onto new fabric, cut and stapled & tacked onto chairs then added a bit of muslin to cover wood underneath.

I want to do the curtains now......... help.... how do I make curtains? They sit on a plastic curtain track.

I have a Brother Innovis 950 sewing machine that I got given not so long back by a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend who passed away. Never used it. Was going to sell it but have just found a use for it :-)

Good luck with the curtains. I have never found them hard to make but you do need to do a precision job else they wont hang well. Spend time getting them right and the sewing is quick and easy

Well done. Go for it. My late father was a whizz with a sewing machine. Mum was frightened of it but he made all sorts of things. He made coats, trousers, I still use the striped apron he made me. (He died nearly 10 years ago).

            I wouldn't say I'm a whizz with a machine unless it's a circular saw or computer

            Still, practise makes perfect.
